This spring, we had the joy of visiting Colmar, France, during its charming Easter Festival — and it was every bit as magical as we hoped.
Nestled in the heart of Alsace, Colmar transforms into a pastel-colored wonderland in the weeks leading up to Easter. The cobblestone streets were lined with wooden market stalls filled with handmade decorations, springtime crafts, and, of course, plenty of Alsatian treats — from kougelhopf cakes to bunny-shaped pretzels.
The two main Easter markets, located at Place des Dominicains and Place de l’Ancienne Douane, created a festive atmosphere with blooming flower displays, gentle folk music, and activities for children. The town’s half-timbered houses, already picturesque, were made even more special with floral garlands and whimsical ornaments hanging from balconies.
A few highlights:
- 🐰 Petting zoos and real Easter bunnies for the kids
- 🛍️ Artisan crafts and wooden toys from local vendors
- 🌷 Beautiful photo spots along the canals, especially “Little Venice”
- 🎻 Live folk music and storytelling events in the evenings
Colmar during the Easter Festival is perfect for a relaxed family getaway or a scenic spring road trip. We left with full hearts, decorated eggs, and way too many chocolates — and we’re already dreaming of returning during the Christmas season!
