Setting Sail from Baltimore: Our 9-Night Escape on Vision of the Seas ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ธ

We are officially back (or at least, back in range of solid Wi-Fi!) from an incredible 9-night getaway down the East Coast and into the Bahamas. Before I dive into the details of each individual port we visited, I wanted to kick off this series with an overview of our home at sea: Royal Caribbeanโ€™s Vision of the Seas.

Departing from Baltimore on July 9th and returning on July 18th, this cruise was the perfect mix of structured exploration and pure, unadulterated relaxation.

Why Smaller has itโ€™s Advantages

In a world of mega-ships with go-kart tracks and ice rinks, Vision of the Seas is a breath of fresh air.

Because of her size, we were able to slip into smaller, more intimate ports of call that the giant floating cities simply can’t reach, like the stunning waters of Bimini and the laid-back streets of Key West.

Beyond the destination perks, the atmosphere onboard felt incredibly cozy and personal. We never felt lost in a crowd, and the legendary Royal Caribbean service shined even brighter here. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel right at home.

Embracing the “At Sea” Days

Before this trip, I wondered if four total sea days would feel like too many. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The sea days became the unsung heroes of our vacation.

With no morning alarms or excursions to rush off to, these days were all about embracing the slow lane:

  • The Food: From leisurely breakfasts to fantastic multi-course dinners, we ate very well. The dining room staff quickly learned our preferences, making dinner feel like a nightly reunion with friends.
  • The Down Time: We spent hours simply reading poolside, watching the deep blue of the Atlantic drift by, and enjoying the sea breeze.
  • The Service: The crew onboard Vision are absolute rockstars. From our stateroom attendant to the deck crew, the warmth and attentiveness made the ship feel like a luxury retreat.

There is something incredibly peaceful about being miles away from land with nothing but ocean on the horizon. It was exactly the reset button we needed.
