Postojna Cave 🇸🇮

Last stop! Postojna Cave is one of Slovenia’s most famous natural wonders, renowned for its vast underground network of passages, halls, and stalactite formations carved by the Pivka River over millions of years. It’s unique for being one of the longest accessible cave systems in Europe, with a train ride taking visitors deep into its mesmerizing chambers.

A highlight of Postojna is its resident olm or “white dragon.” This rare, blind amphibian, resembling a miniature dragon, is found only in the karst caves of the Dinaric Alps. Known for its ability to live up to 100 years and survive without food for a decade, the olm is a symbol of the cave’s mysterious and ancient ecosystem.
