A 21-gun salute took place at Edinburgh Castle on Monday to honour the anniversary of King Charles III’s accession to the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth. This was an opportunity to wish The Governor of Edinburgh Castle farewell.

The Governor of Edinburgh Castle, Major General Alastair Bruce of Crionaich, OBE, VR, DL, retires from the Army at midnight tonight. He will also leave his position as Governor of the Castle.

We also complete a Harry Potter discovery tour of the city to see JK Rowlings inspirations. She finished the final book here as well as much more of the series. She read her sixth book in the great hall of the castle as its debut.
