Day 2: Morning Heights, Island Traversals, and Local Feasts in Procida 🇮🇹

We kicked off our morning with a trek up to Belvedere Terra Murata, the highest point on Procida. The vantage point offers sweeping, postcard-perfect views across the entire island, framed against the backdrop of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

An Unplanned Island Traverse After taking in the views, we missed the island bus; a happy accident that turned into a 30-minute walk across Procida. Walking the island on foot gave us a much closer look at local life: narrow, sun-drenched streets, pastel-walled homes, and that distinct Neapolitan energy where daily life spills out into the open air with a notch less chaos.

Our walk brought us to Spiaggia di Ciraccio (Ciraccio Beach), where we spent time taking in the sun, dark volcanic sands, and clear waters.

A Proper Campanian Lunch After our time on the sand, we sat down for a wonderful local lunch featuring iconic regional classics:

  • Lemon Pasta: Procida is famous for its massive, sweet local lemons (limoni pane), which form the base for rich, citrusy pasta dishes.
  • Homemade Gnocchi with Red Sauce: Soft, pillowy potato gnocchi tossed in a rich tomato sauce.
  • Coniglio alla Procidana (Procida-Style Rabbit): The islands most famous traditional specialty, braised slow in an earthenware pot with garlic, white wine, local tomatoes, and herbs.

Afternoon at Silirenza We caught the bus back toward our lodging, spending the rest of the day unwinding at Spiaggia della Silirenza. Located close to the main port of Marina Grande, its gentle waves and calm shores made it an ideal spot to wrap up a full day of exploring.
