For the MLK long weekend, we slipped away for a quick adventure to Metz, France. It was just the right mix of festive lights, winter fun, and easy travel.
We stayed at a cozy hotel in Amnéville, just outside Metz, which gave us the perfect base for exploring. The first evening, we headed straight to Luminescences at the Zoo d’Amnéville. The kids loved wandering through the glowing lantern displays—giant animals lit up against the night sky made the whole place feel magical and festive.
The next day was all about action. We spent it at Skihalle Amnéville, an indoor ski slope that let us enjoy winter sports without needing to find a mountain. The kids tried skiing, we all laughed through some slips and falls, and by the end of the day, everyone was happily exhausted.
It was a short getaway, but sometimes those are the best—just enough to recharge, make memories, and get back home ready for the week ahead.
