Heading to the Alps
We left Lucerne behind and began our scenic drive into the Alps, heading toward the charming mountain town of Engelberg. After about 45 minutes of winding roads and jaw-dropping vistas, we arrived at our afternoon thrill: the Sommerrodelbahn Brunni.
Toboggan Runs and Alpine Fun
Located at Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG, this summer toboggan run was an instant hit with the kidsβand the adults, too. We parked at the Brunnibahn valley station, then took the Brunni chairlift up the hill to the track. Each ride down cost just 6 CHF, and it was worth every Swiss franc for the laughs and speed!
Barefoot Trails and Mountain Peace
We wrapped up the day with a relaxing walk along the Brunni Barefoot Tickle Trail, a sensory loop near HΓ€rzlisee, a serene alpine lake. Kids explored the mountain playground, dipped their toes in the cool water, and laughed their way across pinecones and pebbles along the barefoot path. It was the perfect blend of nature, play, and recovery after a long flight.
Our first day in Switzerland had everything: family reunions, chocolate, adventure, and mountain peace. Tomorrow: the journey continues deeper into the Alps. π¨π
