🏞️ Milarrochy Bay Walk – A Peaceful Lochside Stroll
Our day began with a gentle walk along Loch Lomond at Milarrochy Bay. This short, family- and dog-friendly trail offered stunning views of the water, rolling hills, and the famous “lone tree” that photographers love. Pebble beaches and open space made for a peaceful start to the day.

🏰 Inveraray Castle – Fairytale Charm
Next, we made a quick detour for a peek at Inveraray Castle, its grand façade rising from perfectly manicured grounds. While we didn’t go inside, the view from the gates gave us just enough of its fairytale charm to want to return another time.

🏰 Kilchurn Castle – Ruins with a Regal View
Continuing on, we stopped at the Kilchurn Castle viewpoint, reached by a brief walk through a sheep field. The castle ruins perched at the edge of Loch Awe were haunting and beautiful — a scene lifted straight from a postcard.

🍴 Tyndrum Lunch – Refuel with a Fish & Chips
Lunch was either a scenic picnic near Kilchurn or a satisfying stop at The Real Food Café in Tyndrum, known for award-winning fish and chips and dog-friendly seating. A great halfway point before heading deeper into the Highlands.

🚗 Rannoch Moor & Glencoe – Scotland at Its Most Dramatic
The drive through Rannoch Moor into Glencoe delivered exactly what you’d hope: cinematic views, brooding mountains, and winding roads. We made time for photo stops at Loch Tulla Viewpoint and the majestic Buachaille Etive Mòr.
